Halloween Mantel

October 12, 2011 by 21 Comments

Mondays, the kids all have different classes so I’m in and out of the car all day long ~ I’m not complaining ~ it’s the day that I get to squeeze in a few stops at my favorite shops!  I had every intention of making a cute flag banner, but when I found this one at Target on Monday for three dollars, I changed my mind.    Not sure how you adhere your banners to the mantle, but I always grab a roll of masking tape and place a strip on each side on top of the mantle…a month later and it lifts like a charm.  Even on a painted surface.
I’ll show you how my kids painted these pumpkins for me in my next post.  Super Easy and a perfect craft for our family.  On August 1st, when we started back to school, they asked if for math we could countdown the days until Christmas.  I think they’re even ahead of Hobby Lobby!  They are loving our Halloween countdown.
And if you haven’t heard of eighteen25 yet, you’re in for a huge treat.  Every holiday and birthday this frame is treated with a super cute subway art print!  The girls at that blog are talented!  Don’t you love their Halloween Print with the Chevron Border!!!  Their PDFs are all stylin’ and best of all it’s all totally free to download and print!!!
And here it is all put together:  white owl candleholder from ZGallerie, mirrors – repainted a thousand times from Target clearance, white vase with gray willow branches – West Elm look from Michael’s, frame from Michael’s, pumpkins – super cheap at Aldi’s, banner – from Target, and my SUPER cute puppy with her pretty orange bow – from Home Store.  I love all the grey tones with a splash of orange!  And one of these day’s I’ll tell you all about how this fireplace got it’s youth back!
And a little bonus:  Here’s the top of our piano with the bat I cut out of black construction paper folded in half to make it symmetrical, taped to white paper, then placed in a frame ~ a black bird cage with an orange candle ~three more white candlesticks from ZGallerie ~ and three more adorable black pumpkins painted by my sweet B’s.
