Yes, it’s about that time!!! And we’re SUPER excited around here!!! Every year we countdown with Kisses {literally and figuratively}. There are some incredibly elaborate advent calendars, but around here, “simplify life” is usually our motto!
Here’s how you put it together! Stretch about 52 inches of Saran Wrap along your table.
It’s a 25 day countdown, so line 25 of your child’s favorite Hershey Kiss candy spaced about an inch apart along the Saran Wrap. Little B and Baby B are all about pure milk chocolate! BIG B wanted to try the peppermint kisses! I was wishing one of the would pick the caramel ~ sounded so GOOD!
Below is what it should look like now.
Once they’re lined up, fold the Saran Wrap length-wise to cover the kisses. Then pull the other side over and continue covering until they’re covered fairly well. No worries if the chocolates shift around a bit. We’ll get to that next. Now take your favorite thin ribbon (if you want thicker ribbon, space your chocolates a little further apart). Cut the ribbon into 3-4 inch pieces, keeping the cuts the same throughout the process.
Take your ribbon and knot (tie twice) each ribbon, pushing the ribbon up after each tie and arranging each kiss so the spacing is consistent.
You can hang these anywhere!!! I used the shutters I found during
Goodwill’s Midnight Madness a few weeks ago! Then took three drawer knobs that I had laying around and painted them red and hot glued them to the shutter (so that I can take them off in January and repurpose my shutter). Next, I grabbed my chalkboard pens (
the ones used for my countdown pumpkin) and surprise surprise, they were eraseable with water on this paintable surface too (and it’s not chalk paint on the shutter)! I think I have a new favorite pen!!!
Leaned the shutter on a table in the family room. I can’t wait for December 1st when the kids come and give us tackle hugs and smother us with kisses!!! A kiss for a kiss!!! We love our little countdown tradition!!! What do you do to countdown for Christmas!?!? Share with me, I’d love to hear your ideas!!!

This brought back such great memories. My mom used to help us make our own candy chains when I was a kid. I’d forgotten that she did that.
What a neat idea for an Advent project. I might even call it “sweet”
