Place 4 filleted chicken breasts {2 extra large chicken breasts} into the crockpot.
Combine water and Italian dressing mix and stir. Pour dressing over the chicken.
Layer chicken soup on top of ingredients. Add butter on top.
Cover and allow to cook on low for 3 hours. Every crock pot varies in cooking time, mine always cooks SUPER FAST, which is good if you're expecting it, but not so good if you don't check it on the early side {personal experience}!
When chicken is no longer pink in the middle, it is ready to be shredded with two forks. {It will shred lots easier when it's hot}. Shred the chicken then mix the ingredients. Add 8 ounce cream cheese block and cook for another 1-1.5 hours.
Serve over rice with your favorite vegetables! {Another fun tip...spray a itty bit of cooking spray in a ramekin and then press a serving of rice into it until filled completely. Flip your ramekin over onto your plate and lift your ramekin away. A cute little mound of rice is ready for the sauce!!! Use your spoon to press down the center of your rice and use a ladle to add your creamy Italian chicken sauce in the concave center, allowing the sauce to beautifully cover your rice! Doesn't presentation make a meal just that much better!!!
Crock Pot Creamy Italian Chicken Recipe
--serves 6
4 chicken breasts
1/2 stick butter
1 package dry Zesty Italian dressing mix
1 can of cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup water
cream cheese block
Spray crock pot with non-stick cooking spray. Place 4 filleted chicken breasts or 2 extra large chicken breasts into the crockpot. Combine water and Italian dressing mix and stir. Pour dressing over the chicken. Layer chicken soup on top of ingredients. Add butter on top. Cover and allow to cook on low for 3 hours. {Every crock pot varies in cooking time}. When chicken is no longer pink in the middle, it is ready to be shredded with two forks. {It will shred lots easier when it's hot}. Shred the chicken then mix the ingredients. Add 8 ounce cream cheese block and cook for another 1-1.5 hours. Turn off heat and let stand for a few minutes to allow sauce to thicken a bit. Serve over rice with your favorite vegetables! {For a little healthier version: feel free to make it without the butter, it will still be good.}

This looks so good! I will definitely be adding it to my recipe list! Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteAimee that looks delicious...I bet it would be great with garlic mashed potatoes also. I'll have to try this one crock pot recipes are the best!
ReplyDeleteNow this looks really scrumptious! You typed twice about adding the cream cheese block and cook for 1 to 1.5 hours. Is this correct or is this a typo?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely one block of cheese will suffice!!! LOL! Thanks SO MUCH Velma for pointing that out to me!!! XO, Aimee

Looks great! Can't wait to try it. I do have one question: In the picture, the chicken breasts look frozen...are they?
ReplyDeleteYes, totally frozen...dropped in and they cook perfectly. Such a time saver!
DeleteXO, Aimee
It looks great. Will have to try. Also does everyone know that you can buy slow cooker liners. They are great no messy clean-up.Sold in grocery stores by the foil and plastic wrap
ReplyDeleteYes...I've used those before they are nice! Definitely easy cleanup! Thanks for sharing! XO, Aimee
DeleteI cant wait to give this a try!!
ReplyDeleteI found it works better to cook the chicken with out the soup. I now add the chicken soup mixed with the Cream cheese the same time. Then finish cooking the chicken.
ReplyDeleteGreat presentation and I love using my crockpot. Just pinned this one! Thank you so much for sharing at Taking A Timeout Thursday!
ReplyDeleteI've been making this for years--love the recipe! (Even my picky kids will eat it.)
ReplyDeleteI made this last night and was so excited to try it. I was disapointed that it didn't seem very flavorful. Should I have used the zesty italian instead of the regular?
ReplyDeleteI guess so...I've only used the zesty. I'm totally ALL about seasoning, too and this is definitely that! The regular must not have as much flavor and spice!
DeleteXO, Aimee
I love an easy crockpot recipe that looks delicious, thanks! I'd love for you to submit this to the M&T Spotlight http://www.makeandtakes.com/spotlight
ReplyDeleteI made this last week. So easy and so GOOD! Yum! I will definitely be making this again! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI have seriously made this recipe 5 times in the last month since you shared it... we can't get enough of it! If the chicken is not frozen you can drop the initial cooking time down to 2-2.5 hours. Also I have experimented with adding frozen peas towards the end, and the family didn't even complain! This is my new go-to dish for when we have company because its so easy and tasty. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! Thanks Michele for your sweet note! Smiling from ear -to- ear! XO, Aimee
DeleteJust pinned because I can handle this recipe too!!! So glad to be here! Love, Me www.youaretalkingtoomuch.com
ReplyDeleteHello - I'm cooking this now. Even after going to the store, I forgot everything for this dish. So, I'm using Basil Vinaigrette dry dressing packet and chicken thighs. Yes, i've totally switched almost everything.. but this is today's dinner and I'm not going back to the store. I'm sure it'll be just as good. I'll update! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteJenn
I bet it will be GREAT! Do let me know!!! XO, Aimee
DeleteHi. I have the rest of the ingredients except I forgot to buy the cream cheese. :( Do you think I could still cook this without it or is there a substitute for cream cheese? Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteI don't know of a substitute. You could try it, but it definitely will be a different flavor. Let me know! That so bugs when you are one ingredient shy...such a bummer!!!
DeleteThis sounds great & time saving...I am still learning slow cooker recipes coz I use it mostly for soups. This is going to be a must try recipe for me.Thanks for sharing with Midweek Fiesta...
ReplyDeleteSounds so good, I'm making it tonight! Can you add the chicken breast frozen or do they have to be thawed? (I've never used frozen anything in the crockpot) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYep, frozen! Crazy simple, right!!! Enjoy! XO, Aimee
DeleteThank you for this recipe. Mine is in the crock pot as we speak (almost time for the cream cheese!) It smells wonderful, can't wait to dig in!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm TOTALLY craving some! I'll have to throw the ingredients in my crock pot this week! XO, Aimee
