How to Make a Simple Scrap Fabric Banner

Super Simple 'Scrap Fabric Banner'
aka, a 'Rag Garland'!  You can recycle your saved scraps and put them to good use with this craft, or for friends a bit more like myself, who admittedly clean shop too often, throwing away valuable fabric scraps, you can pick up a Jelly Roll of coordinating fabrics at Walmart, Joann's, Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
They're $9.99 at Walmart and at the craft stores they're $12.99 {minus a 40% coupon = less than $8}.  When you compare the prices for these banners on the web, you'll be totally feeling like a frugal party event planner!  And it's SUPER fun to find just the right touch for your party!!!
Speaking of parties...in the rush of getting ready, I have told you the type of party I'm hosting yet!  It's our annual Mother - Daughter Tea Party and it's something Little B and I look forward to every year!  I'll have to double check, but I think this is our seventh tea party!  Each has a little different flair and every single one is super dear to our hearts!  I'll share more of the scoop on how it came about and some of the fun things we've done over the years later, but for now...back to the tutorial!

To make this banner, unwrap your fabric jelly roll bundle and cut each strip into half lengthwise.  This will leave you with two super long strips of fabric that are folded in half, both sides showing the design side of the fabric!  Next, tie a long piece of ribbon or jute stretched out on two dining table chairs or along a table.  It works best if you have the rope suspended so you can eye the center and wrap each strip easily.

Tuck the fabric ends into the loop and pull the ends towards the ground until the loop tightens around the jute.  Repeat with lots of fabric scraps.

As each piece is added, you'll want to make a quick cut with your scissors to separate where the fabric is still adjoined...this allows the banner to look fuller!  Then, embellish with your favorite coordinating ribbons!
Find a cute place to display your fun fabric banner touches to add the perfect touch of fun for your party!  I'm about to pull out my china which has some silver touches so I'm loving how the touch of formal grayish color compliments the fun flair of yellow!  Oh my goodness...I love it when things starts to come together!
As you can see in the pic below...it's only "starting" to come together.  I have a little bit of everything, everywhere at this point, but I'm SUPER excited about the little touch of pretty that's cheering me along the way!
