New Kitchen Appliances Arrived

 DIY Kitchen Makeover: YIPPEE!  Our New Stainless Steel Kitchen Appliances Arrived!

Isn’t progress so misleading at times!   Serious clutter often holds the promise of great things to come!!!  We looked at every storefront in the area and every appliance outlet and every scratch and dent sale in our area, but we needed FIVE new appliances and they all needed to work well together and so that almost immediately eliminated the scratch and dent sales.

Based on my research at home, I knew I wanted to buy GE products because they are respected and great quality appliances, but the price break was definitely more reasonable than professional grade appliances.  The more I looked online, I began to realize that I was going to find far better deals buying a bulk purchase from a web store.  Not only that, we were coming up on a holiday which meant that GE was offering rebates and everywhere, prices were super low!

After hunting and searching, Appliances Connection ended up being our obvious pick!  Although they offered to install for us at an additional $100 or so per appliance, we opted to save a couple more pennies and install the appliances ourselves {granted it was the first time we’d ever installed appliances…I’ll tell you a little more how that went next time…as with everything, we’ve learned the hard way that there’s definite highs and lows when DIYing}.  I’ll share a little more about that next time!  Hopefully some of what we’ve learned can help you!

Our pick was the stainless steel package and I haven’t regretted it for one second.  I think it just so clean and modern which I totally love.  And the fingerprints do accumulate, but nothing a little stainless steel wipe can’t clean up!  And thankfully this dishwasher is even quieter than our previous which I was already impressed wtih!!!
Adding a microwave to my kitchen after an entire 8 months warming food over the stove top and in the oven I was thrilled to move into the era of convenience!!!  {Although I’m so spoiled by the flavor of stove top popcorn, I don’t think I could ever go back.}
And the addition of this shelving unit was continuing to make more and more sense!!!  I’m serious, nothing is more fun than to capture a vision of something in a SUPER UGLY state and than get to be a part of the process of making it beautiful!!!

Can you see it coming together yet!?!  Is it making sense or is that SUPER UGLY rug that we used to protect our floors during the construction process totally throwing you off…right along with the lovely scalloped window valance and gorgeous arrow door pulls!?!?

Oh and for those in the process this second of installing or considering installing their oven in an older home…definitely don’t guess on which power source to install the oven into…just sayin’!  Oh there’s so much to share…I’ll be back real soon, promise!!!  Until then, share what your favorite microwave cooking tip is…I’m all about living simple and am LOVING mine!

    What do you use to clean your stainless steel appliances? My husband and I just bought a house that already had stainless appliances and so far have been using 409, which seems to work okay for now.

    That is looking so great! I have to say, there is definitely hope for your kitchen…ours used to be shockingly similar (weird scallop and everything)…except with patterned carpet and white painted cabinets with green pulls…I can’t wait to see how yours turns out!

    They look great! We’re in desperate need of a new range and I think we’re going to break down and get one next weekend. My boyfriend pointed out one in the lovely shade of “biscuit” that we can get for super cheap. I told him he’s never allowed to pick out appliances, EVER.

  18. Great choice! I think that stainless or white will ALWAYS be in style. So classic!

  19. Lookin’ spiffy!! I need to get a new microwave…the other one was only five years old!! But the thingamajiggy that makes the turntable turn broke. Everything else on it works fine but we don’t want hot spots burning in our food or dishware, so it’s a new one we will be getting. :/

    We could not afford all new appliances when we redid our kitchen. They are on my wish list. Isn’t working on your kitchen fun when you’re living there and eating there.

  26. Oh I know how hard it is to buy all new appliances! BTW, I am dropping by from BNOTP, and you are the link before mine, so following her rules…here I am! I am glad that I did! I love a good kitchen renovation. We are looking for a new fridge so I am going to check out your link. Your appliances are lovely and as an owner of SS appliances I have never regretted them. They do require some cleaning but it ends up being not much of a big deal. Best of luck.

  27. Martha says:

    I’ve never been able to buy all ofmy appliances at once — lucky you! I love stainless steel!

  28. Thanks Christina!!! I’m out of practice, this is so helpful! XO, Aimee
