Tip: Making Candles NOT Wobble! {Anthro Candelabra Redo}

I’m one of many that love all the amazing inspiration Anthropologie offers! A while back, I was just browsing when I came across this darling Springing Sprigs Iron Candelabra on clearance for only $19. I went against my usual principle…I purchased it without a clue as to where it would go in my home. You know what happens when you don’t have a place for something, right…it ends up in a closet! Sad, right!
Two reasons for not using it:
1. The candles wouldn’t stand straight which drove me crazy after a while.
2. It didn’t offer a pop of color – my dark furniture sometimes needs a little fun punch.
‘As wrought roots grow down, spindly branches rise
high, fluttering with the light of a dozen-plus-one tapers’
And so this pretty Anthropologie candelabra got some love!!!
Issue #1 I Needed a Pop of Color in My Family Room.
A little spray paint took care of that…Rustoleum Satin Lagoon to be exact!
This was definitely the pop of color I was looking for in my family room!
I placed this on the hearth of my fireplace and against the white of my painted
fireplace {here} it’s just what this spot needed! I can’t wait to show you the
rest of my fireplace decorations this Spring…more coming everyday this week!
Issue #2, The candles wouldn’t stand straight! Here’s what I recommend for this type of situation, either buy Candle Fitter from any craft store for next to nothing. Rub the wax between your hands to loosen it, then wrap the candle base with the wax tightly and place the candle inside the candle holder. Fits like a glove and it’ll stay put even when your boys move your candelabra around so they have more room for playing cars! {Below is a picture of Candle Fitter in it’s old-fashion packaging}.
Or if you’re so inclined you can get your too-small candles to stay in place by melting the bottoms w/ a lighter, dripping the wax into the bottom of each receptacle, and then sort of mushing each candle into place and holding til the wax melted creates a glue for the candle to stay put.
Are you putting those brass candle holders on your Christmas Wish List!?!?

i have this same candelabra and I had to put puddy in the candles to make them stay! glad I was not the only one having trouble with this baby! I like the new color you picked for it!
No need to put those on my wish list! I already have them!! Aren’t they beautiful??
Ahhh…that looks a lot easier that the tin foil i usually try to use!! gonna need to look for this!!
This is so cute! I have a chandelier that looks really similar to this that I can’t wait to fancy up!
Swell price and love the new color.
I always have this problem with tall candle holders. I have tried blue tac but that doesnt always hold them straight. Iv never seen these candle fitters in Perth, you guys get all the cool stuff overseas
Bummer Michelle!
I wonder if you could just find wax somewhere…maybe you could even market it and make millions?!!? Thanks for your sweet note friend! XO, Aimee
Great candle tip! Love the color you chose, too!
THANK YOU!!!!! If I lean a little to the left I can see a candle holder that I painted last week…it’s so pretty!!!….but!….all 3 of the candles are wonky!!!! I walk by there numerous times a day trying to jam them in further to no avail!!! However, as soon as I hit Publish here Imma gonna go fix this problem so that when I gaze upon my lovely candle holder I won’t cringe at the candles going this way and that!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!!
:):):):)
I love the new color!
LOVE the new color and those candle fitters look great! I normally use candle wax but those look much easier to use.
Ha ha… the sad thing is… I already have those brass candle holders!!! They get repacked each year. I need to spray paint them a fun Christmas color this year.
Love the color that you have chosen. It’s a beautiful piece. Megan
The new color really is much prettier-excellent choice. Gotta love the power of spray paint!! And now I need to see if I can find those candle wraps, tilted candles are so frustrating!
The color is gorgeous! I’ve always melted wax to keep the candles straight and in place, but it doesn’t always work that well (and takes time). I’m going to look for that candle fitter; it looks so much easier. Thank you for sharing!
