ZGallerie Knockoff Candleholder {Perfect Souviner}

June 8, 2012 by 16 Comments

When we vacationed in Florida, we picked up a lot of seashells.  Each summer I pull the memory filled seashells out and add them to an apothecary or bowl…this year I decided I should make something more lasting…and I’m loving it…my new DIY Seashell Candleholder!

I gathered the seashells that my sweet B’s have collected,
my glue gun and a candleholder that once was gunmetal
color…it was a wedding gift from my Aunt and Uncle.
The other, also painted white, is on my mantel {here}.
With no order, we layered our seashells onto the candleholder
using the hot glue gun to hold each in place…it didn’t take very many!
When the shells were set, I grabbed some leftover caulk from
the garage and used my fingers to fill in a few of the larger gaps.
After those were filled, I used several damp paper towels to smooth
away the excess…followed by a dry towel to remove any lint.
Then I sprayed the candleholder with some glossy white spray paint
and it was ready to sit all pretty on my coffee table in the family room.

    These look great, I especially like how you’ve painted them all one colour. Iv covered a few frames and mirrors with shells but not candlesticks, I imagine it would’ve been hard to keep them from sliding off hmmmm not sure if Im patient enough for this one!

  9. You were spot on in your version. Well done!

    Great to see that it can be done so beautifully- I hope my results will be anywhere near as pretty as your little beauty!
