Master Bedroom: Cozy Accent

August 26, 2012 by 24 Comments

I am keeping my spring bedding in the Master Bedroom for another month and then I’ll be ready to make the switch for Fall.  As I was browsing through a very fun antique store with the most friendly shop owner EVER, I stumbled on something perfect!  A Master Bedroom: Cozy Accent.  Below is a picture from the tour of our Rancher Home.  Want to see my NEW little addition…it’s in the next picture!

A popcorn stitch afghan in the most perfect shade of green.  Growing up I had a very similar light tan afghan stitched by my Grandma Mac.  It was the perfect portrait of comfort for me.  Nothing was more settling then being wrapped up in this substantial heavy crocheted blanket.  So when I saw this little throw with the same sweet popcorn stitch detail…I’m telling you it rocked my world…and for a price of…

Only eight dollars, I hugged it closely until the purchase was final!  I think this sweet throw will be making a rotation to different areas of my house, but for now it’s helping me make the transition of seasons at the foot of my bed.  Speaking of transitions…

I’ve been up at my sweeties school for the last three hours getting settled with the procedure for each teacher.  I can hardly believe that in about 15 hours all this transition that we’ve been planning will be official.  The biggest tearjerker moment so far was when the kindergarten teacher had me write a note to Baby B.  He’ll find it in his locker on the first day.  As this glossy-eyed mommy wrote words on an adorable little framed paper for her precious baby, the emotions flooded!  I’m so thankful that all of my rising fears continue to be settled by God’s sweet grace.

As much as I’d love the precious afghan that came from Grandma Mac and snuggled me best on days when I was under the weather, I’m thankful to have something similar, created as a labor of love and crafted by a skilled hand…I hope my Sweet B’s will treasure the memories of this gorgeous throw years from now, too!  More Thrifty Finds

Oh, this is beautiful! I love the popcorn stitch. I crochet and know the time it takes to do something like this. It’s really pretty on your bed and I’m sure you’ll love it when the cooler weather pops in!

I LOVE the afghan. Also, I love your paisley quilt…is it the one from Target? I’ve been lusting after that one for awhile now…and I think I’m just going to have to get it.

I am in love with the quilt too! Do you know what it is called at Target? I’ve been looking for months for a quilt in my master bedroom.

What a BEAUTIFUL throw in a gorgeous color! I just love it against the quilt on the bed. Great find :) I just LOVE the thought of your son finding a note from you on his very first day – I think I may sneak in something before ours starts next week!

I come from a long line of knitters and crocheters and I don’t think there is a single person in our family who could LIVE without an afghan like yours. I have made several for my home (much like my mother and grandmother did) and now my own children have a blanket addiction, too. And what a lovely, cozy addiction. I can totally understand why your blanket has made your heart sing!!

I love it, Aimee! What an amazing find. $8? Seriously? It’d cost more to make it yourself…not that I can crochet or knit. I tried once. It wasn’t pretty. lol Love the color, love the pattern and texture and love being warm! :)

  18. Gorgeous! I love the color and texture…and that it was only $8! That’s such an amazing price.

  19. What an amazing find! When I look at something like that I think of the hours of work that go into it. Talk about a labour of love. :)
