Home Tours: Layers of Loveliness

Don’t you just LOVE Dreamy Dwelling Home Tours?!! Thank you so much Jennifer from Dimples and Tangles for having us over for a visit! Your style incorporates the perfect blend of layered textiles & color – LOVE it!
I’m Jennifer and this is my family:
My husband is a minister, and my kiddos are 11 and 9. We stay busy and they are at the perfect age for doing so many fun things! I am a die-hard bargain shopper, thrifter, frequent Craigslister, and DIYer. My home is my hobby and I’ve only been blogging for a year, but I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing all of my projects and meeting so many new friends in the blogging community. But, you’re here for a home tour today, so come on in!
Our home is a constant work in progress. We moved into this house 5 1/2 years ago. It had great “bones”, but everything needed to be updated. We had the vision, though! Just about every surface here has had some sort of attention. We’ve changed out carpet, light fixtures, faucets, stripped wall paper, painted, and painted some more. Most of the links I include show before and after pics if you want to see how far we’ve come. There are still lots of things that are on our “to-do” list, but this is where we are so far.
THE ENTRY AND LIVING ROOM
Last year I painted all of the built-ins in the living room. It’s amazing how new and fresh it made the entire room feel.
THE KITCHEN AND PANTRY
Our kitchen got a major overhaul two years ago. I painted all of the cabinets, we had the island enlarged and swung out the bar, and we purchased new countertops and appliances. You can read all about it here and here, and how I covered the old tile backsplash here.
The pantry got some fresh paint and a little bit of fun too!
THE BREAKFAST NOOK
We use this space every.single.day. and I wipe that table about 462 times per day. The botanical wall is one of my all-time favorite projects.
THE OFFICE
I just finished up our office which also multi-tasks as a movie room/playroom/game room/music room/craft room! We painted the ceiling, walls, and the backs of the shelves, and I hand-painted accent wall behind the computer. The gold drum shade was a DIY that I used along with a vintage chandelier, and I made skirting to cover the lower previously open sections of the shelves.
THE DINING ROOM
This room is a work in progress! The houndstooth drapery, the chandy, and the chairs are what I’ve done so far. I have a vintage table that is being re-worked for use in here and am hunting for a great china cabinet to place on that big blank wall that’s to the right.
GIRL’S ROOM
We redecorated my daughter’s room about a year ago. I’m pretty sure there’s an upholstered headboard in her future, but she still loves the room and I hope that it will grow with her over the coming years.
I gave this chair a new life with a hot glue gun!
THE LAUNDRY ROOM
Last fall my laundry room got a complete overhaul all because of a $6 thrift store chandelier! I wanted to paint it a bright pop of color and here’s what happened after that:
This back hallway has been one of my more recent projects. I made a gallery wall of mirrors with kelly green frames, and painted my back door to match! You can read more about the mirrors here and the door here.
THE PATIO
We enjoy our patio and back yard so much throughout the year. My husband rebuilt a pergola to replace the old one that was falling apart. We still have big plans for our back yard, so I’m sure I’ll be blogging more about that in the future.
So that’s about it for today. Noticeably absent from my home tour are my master bedroom and my son’s room, and for good reason. Those are next on the list! I would love to have you join me at Dimples and Tangles and follow along with the transformation.
