Fun Giveaway + My Last Name Isn’t Richmond
December 7, 2012 by Aimee • 35 Comments
Growing up with three sisters we read lots of fairy tales and dreamed up our own happily ever after stories! (My last name was always going to be ‘Richmond’ because I was going to be so rich. Deep, I know!)
It’s funny being an adult and watching life through my children’s eyes. They’re totally looking for their place in life. Exploring who they are and what they will be. Books are a major tool in igniting lifelong dreams! I am so excited to introduce you to On the Far Side of Poplar Pond, a children’s book about adoption and belonging!
Tina Turtle needs a home. The Duck family has more love they long to share. Watch and see how God brings these lovable animals together as a family in a unique way through the gift of adoption. Read together with your children and explore how families are created not because you look the same but because God perfectly orchestrates families.
This sweet story is not only awesome for friends that have adopted or are in the process of adopting (which is so unbelievably beautiful it brings me to tears), On the Far Side of Poplar Pond would be a precious gift for all families…stirring great conversations. Author, Anjanette Walchshauser has offered to giveaway a signed copy of her book to one of my readers…a link to the book is just below Anjanette’s cute profile pic. If you’re in the DFW area, watch Anjanette’s facebook page closely and meet her at a book signing coming soon!
To continue my story, my last name didn’t end up being ‘Richmond’ and I’m not a rich princess living in a palace! I work really hard to share inspiring DIY Home Decor Projects for you on my blog and I try to use beautiful photography so it’s fun to stop by, but it’s not all pretty here. I have toilets to scrub (oops…I mean I have toilets I should scrub), there are dishes to wash, and there’s always laundry sitting on my couch ready to be folded. Stud has been through two company restructures causing an immediate HUGE PANIC followed by lots of prayer and a trickle effect of freak outs. My sweeties aren’t always sweet….I’ll leave that for them to tell on their own blog someday. I have found that music soothes my soul during those moments that life is seeming anything but fairy tale – like.
Proverbs 7:3 says, ‘Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.’ The last few years have had some really amazing highs and some major lows for me personally, but through it all, Seeds Family Worship, music that is completely scripture, and set to really cool music, has spoken God’s word for me in a gentle, loving way. Isn’t it funny when something you buy for your sweeties ends up being exactly what you needed! I have all of their CDs (except the newest one…it’s on my Christmas list) and we listen to it all the time.
I like Seeds Worship so much I wrote and asked if they’d be willing to giveaway one of their CDs on my blog and they said YES! Are you ready for a giveaway!?! The winner will receive Seed’s new CD ‘The Character of God‘ AND ‘On The Far Side Of Poplar Pond.’ Leave a comment with one of your hilarious childhood dreams or if you’d like a brief note with a prayer request and then enter to win through rafflecopter below. XO, Aimee
The winner will be selected at random through rafflecopter and I am sharing this strictly because I like these products…no compensation. I am an affiliate for Amazon.

Aimee – thank you for sharing your heart in this post! I know how hard it is to be transparent when it comes to those personal struggles that deepen our relationship with the Lord. I have found that in sharing others have really encouraged my heart during our trails.
As far as a crazy childhood dream I though I would a Mum to many – as in at LEAST 8 kiddos! But God had other plans! After years of infertility, an interrupted adoption which broke our hearts and finally the blessing of a complete adoption, we became the parents of one sweet girl. Shortly after we suffered through a miscarriage and than one difficult but full term pregnancy and were blessed with a boy. So my childhood dream for a BIG family was adjusted to two blessings, but God has taught us that His plans for us are good, and learning to be content is an ongoing process. We are very very blessed!
Thanks so much for your comment Heather! When you or someone close to you goes through struggles with growing their family, it makes you realize that childbirth truly is a miracle! XO, Aimee
I can’t think of a crazy childhood dream to share but I would love to win this giveaway, especially the scripture cd! I have chronic pain in my back that affects my ability to be the best mother, wife, friend, servant of the Lord so I will take your prayers on that end. Beginning a treatment again next week.
I haven’t heard of this group before. They are great! I would love to win
I entered your great give-a-way!
My prayer request is for the baby of some college acquaintances who has been in the hospital for over two months now. His parents have been amazingly faithful in their journey and I pray their little boy continues to heal and they can bring him home to be with his big sister soon.
Would love to win this! Our best friends are in the process of adopting right now. Just waiting for a phone call that there is a sweet baby ready for them! What a precious book for them to be able to read to their future child!
I am a foster Mom who hopes to adopt. One of my dreams as a kid was to have children of my own. Years later I am almost 30 and have a medical condition that makes having my own children near impossible. My hubby and I are now licensed foster parents loving these children for as long as God needs us to and praying we will be able to adopt and have a family of our own.
We would love for you to pray for us. We are starting a domestic adoption of a baby girl. She is due at the end of April. We list an adoption 2 years ago so thus had been a scary time. I know God is in control and if this is to be our baby He will provide!
A childhood (teenage) dream was to be close to my children when they’re teens. They’re still young, so we’ll see how it goes!
I would love to share this book with my niece and nephew.

I have a daughter and son-in-law with a heart for adoption. One childhood dream was to have that daughter – that and live in a tiny trailer behind my grandma’s house (where my great grandma lived so they could care for her close by). Thankful for dreams that God gives and those he chooses to better
I dreamed of becoming a nun…I’m not sure I quite understood the meaning!
I also dreamed of adopting a child and now I am an adoption professional.
Aimee, I love your blog!
My chilhood dream was to become a nun and missionary. I grew-up, married and had four children.
I used to say when I someday wanted to be heaven’s librarian. Who knows, I’m not in heaven yet, so maybe it could happen!
My husband and I are actually in the process of adopting a daughter from China so we would love this book! We could use prayers both for patience and that God would have His hand working in our adoption process because it’s been a long wait so far . . .
Wow, this looks like an amazing book! Adoption is my heart right now as we finalize our adoption of a beautiful baby girl (14 months now, but we got her at 3 days old) on December 18th. My prayer is for her birth parents as they have made several bad decisions with drugs and in and out of jail.
Love to read the stories of adoption from your comments. Such a sweet book, I’m sure. Heading over to check it out now! XOXO
I use to say I would adopt one child from each country. Until I realized how many countries there were:) I now have four beautiful children of my own and may adopt one day if God calls us to!
My childhood dream was to live in Montana (I grew up in Oklahoma)…..that did not happen.
This book sounds great, we have 4 children and 2 are adopted. I love ways to point my children towards God’s sovereignty in how our family was put together. I always say to my children” “God had a plan from the beginning that 2 children would be put into our family through birth and 2 by adoption”. I want my children to one day rest in the assurance that God has always had a plan for them!
I have 2 friends that have recently adopted and would love to win the book for either one of them – I’m going to buy another copy to give to the other one (assuming I win!) I also LOVE the CD’s – music is such a fun way to teach children about Scriptures! Thank you for doing this giveaway!
This book looks like a must for our family library!
My sister shared this with me and it is awesome! My father was adopted and I am about to become a 2x adoptive father myself, which I thought would never happen for me! Already the topic of “how to break the news” has come up and this would be a great primer for our boys (who arrive any day now!)
This would be an awesome book as we’re doing fost/adopt right now.
As a teen I told my best friend that I would marry a Marine or an Australian. Turns out I married a US Marine who was born in Australia! And we now have 3 awesome boys, 2 through adoption and a homegrown.
I had dreams of a large family, but after two it seemed our family would have to be complete. But, God had other plans and we now are a family of 5 , blessed by adoption. I would love to read this with my adopted daughter.
I told everybody I wanted to be an architect…even though I’m not a big fan of computers (yeah, I’m a blogger; ironic, right?) and math, while fine, is not my favorite.
Why did I claim to aspire to this profession?
Because my grandmom sent us a subscription to Architectural Digest, and I really loved looking at all the pretty pictures.
Little did I know that I would help design my own house from the concrete up one day.
Hey! I guess I realized my dream after! : )
Thanks for sharing the giveaway
My widest childhood dream was living on a deserted island like gilligan
I’m so glad I saw this! Two weeks ago we (very unexpectedly) received two children! My husband has a family member terminally ill with cancer and she can no longer care for them. They don’t really understand why they are here because their biological mother is still alive. We can’t explain to them that she has problems with drugs so a book like this would be wonderful! Thank you for posting about it!
I have never heard the seeds CDs, but love music and find it also helps me through the highs and lows of being a mommy and wife. Thank you!
I would love to read the book…my husband and I are dealing with infertility and may possibly start looking into adoption soon. How to help the child feel a part of our family (biological or not) is a big question we have and this book would really help explain it to them!
My wildest childhood dream was to be able to live inside the books i read.
You sound like you could be twins with my daughter! I love that about her…you must be incredibly creative and smart!!! Thanks for sharing! XO, Aimee
So fun! I’d love to win! I have an adopted niece and I adore Seeds of Worship!
My childhood dreams…hmmm…that I’d have dozens of children and a big, wide porch with a big, wide porch swing.
Oh Aimee, I love this post. Well, I love all of your posts, but I really really love this one! So open and honest. That is just the best. I would love to have a copy of this book (and the cd too!). I had the honor of being a part of an adoption of sorts with my good friends this summer. It was actually embryo adoption, and so my friend is now pregnant with her adopted babies–I think that is about the coolest thing ever, and I think this book would really mean a lot to them! Anyways thanks for the great giveaway!
Hugs,
Jaime
