French Cottage House Tour

Don’t you just LOVE Dreamy Dwelling Home Tours?!  Kristin from My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia  has a gorgeous French Cottage home and she’s sharing it with us today!  They moved into their home 12 years ago, standard builder grade…they are constantly working on their home to make it more their own.
French Cottage Home @ItsOverflowingOne of our first projects was turning three small rooms (living, dining, family) into one large great room by knocking down a wall. This created a space that was 100% usable and functional which was so important for us.

The mantel is something I enjoy changing out with each season, you can see more of it here.

Our next big project was our kitchen. We took our standard oak cabinets and made them look custom with lots and lots of molding and paint.

You can find all the details below:  How to add height to your cabinets, How to add glass to a wood cabinet, Making a island look custom.  With three boys we were quickly running our of space. We converted part of the garage into a craft/mud/play room which has come in very handy.

We recently completed adding wood floors to our Master Bedroom, it definitely changed the whole look of the room.

Back in July of 2011 a candle burned our Guest Bathroom down so we had to remodel the space. We were very fortunate that was the only loss and everyone was safe.

The beginning of 2012 I tackled the Loft by repainting the desk and bookshelves for my office space and making it more of a hangout for the boys on the other side.

We have lots of family that stays with us on a regular basis so it was important to have our guest room as comfortable as possible for them.Entire House Tour @ItsOverflowing

Two of our boys share a room and we are in the process of updating our oldest room.

We had lots of fun transforming the boys bathroom into a beachy escape for them.

Living in San Diego we are blessed to have wonderful weather so we have created a space where we can relax and entertain in our backyard.

When all my kids are out of the house, I’m renting myself out as the west coast nanny to the bloggers when they take vacations. I could stay in beautiful homes in beautiful warm weather. But there is a certain surfer from San Diego I don’t want to catch up with!
