Keeping Receipts Organized

My new favorite iPhone app is a Receipt App that let’s you say goodbye to paper receipts!  Paper hoarding is always a struggle when attempting to keep an organized home.  My weakness has always been receipts!  I never know when I may need to return something so I hold every receipt until it expires!  This makes for a huge mess of receipts that are impossible to disguise as pretty.  I couldn’t be more excited to tell you about my new discovery that has revolutionized my life!  Ready for ‘Get it Organized’ – Receipts!

Stud went to IKEA this weekend to do a return for me.  Sweet, right!  Guess what I forgot to give him — the receipt!  The sweet clerks told Stud they would let him do the return if I could text a picture of the receipt to him.  Brilliant!  Such an amazing concept that led Stud on a little hunt — He found a great new app for me!  Proximiant — Receipt App is a total life changer!   Seems to good to be true, but it’s not!  On your iPhone, Android, and iPad devices you can store receipts, track expenses, categorize receipts, and stay organized.  And the best part, Stud and I are sharing an account so we can do each others returns very easily.  Here’s how it works —

1. Click on the Camera – it will bring up the digital receipt, take a snap shot, it stores it.

I know that this post is a little bit older, so I couldn’t find this app anywhere. It is on their website but I am scared to download anything that’s not from the Google Play Store. Is there a different app that you use now? Which made me wonder if something happens to an app do you still have access to your receipts? Love your information thank you

    Try iqBoxy, it’s much better.

  3. Dee says:

Are you able to get the receipts from a computer version of the app if you lose your phone or the app from your phone?

  4. Yvette says:

I love this app. Thanks for the suggestion Aimee. Is this also good for Tax season?

  5. Thanks for sharing! Downloading my new app as I type this! and congrats on the SSS feature too!

After reading your post, I downloaded this app. I have entered several receipts, but I cannot bring them back up. They were paper receipts that I then used the camera to take a picture.

How do I recall the receipt to show it to the store?

    • Hi Riley, My hubby had the same problem at first. When you click on the store that you entered the receipt for, there will be a barcode with a magnify glass on top. Click on that little image and your receipt will appear. XO, Aimee

  7. LOVE this, Aimee! I’m for sure going to get this app. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent! This is one of my biggest areas of clutter, yet I have redeemed myself more than once in finding a receipt for something I bought a year ago, and taking the item back to the store when it broke. This year my Keurig coffeemaker broke after only 18 months. I packed it up in a trash bag (I didn’t have the box anymore), scoured my Kohls receipts until I found the one where I purchased the coffeemaker, and returned it to Kohls where I got a full credit, and promptly purchased a new one.

    • I had the same experience with my Keurig that I bought at Costco. I used my membership card in lieu of a receipt. 🙂 And ditto on the purchasing a new one! LOL! I love it so much! XO, Aimee

  9. I have a very basic phone, but now I’d love to get the iPhone, just for the receipt app! There are always lots of receipts in my pocketbook. I try to pay cash whenever possible just to avoid paper receipts!

May I ask what retailers you have returned items to, using this app? Or let me ask, have you returned anything to Target, Belk, or Staples with this?

    Thank you

    • Lowes, Home Depot, Target, IKEA….that’s all that comes to mind. Just make sure to lay the receipt flat when you take the picture. Check your local store by holding onto the receipt in your wallet and not pull it out unless necessary. I have found that some use the scanner and some just type the receipt number into the register! Hope that helps Tammie! XO, Aimee

UPDATE: one of my Walmarts would not accept my receipt.

  11. Wow…I knew of no such app! I’m a huge receipt keeper, always keeping them for at least 30 days. My purse gets so heavy and nightstand gets so bogged down with paper that it gets out of control sometimes. This app is the perfect solution. Its also good to know that thus far retailers haven’t had an issue accepting the electronic version of the receipts.

    Thanks for sharing!

  12. WOW – that is amazingly COOL!! Cannot wait to share that with some of my clients!

Cheers & ‘Happy 31 Days’ from a fellow Organizing enthusiast! 🙂

Have you ever had trouble with a retailer not accepting an electronic version of the receipt?
