Don’t you just LOVE a Dreamy Dwelling Home Tour! Laurie quit her job as a paralegal and went back to school to study interior design and open an antique booth. After years of owning smaller, older homes in need of major renovations she and her husband decided to buy a bigger, newer house and add their own character and style without having to do the old house things like replacing the air conditioning, heating — you know the boring stuff! Ready to see the amazing touches Laurie Jones has added as she’s been decorating home?!
The home was literally a big blank box when we moved in and after 3 years of living here I feel like things are finally coming together. (Although I know my house will never ever be done!) The living room was where one of our first renovations happened it was our fireplace that started out as a big black box.
My home is a mix of high and low (mostly low) and lots refurbished furniture. My go to color is obviously black which is also my number one design tip…all rooms need a little black, I feel like it grounds a room.
The dining room consists of a thrift store table that I refinished, modern lighting and casual elements like chairs and benches that don’t actually match the dining room table, which happens to be another design tip…break up matching sets of furniture.
Although I’m not a fan of doing laundry my laundry room is one of my favorite spaces in our house. This is the first time I’ve had a laundry room that wasn’t in a dark and scary basement. This room only had a cheap laundry tub and bad fluorescent lighting when we first moved into the house. I purchased the cabinets at a large hardware store and had extra molding installed on top to give the cabinets a more customized look.
My master bedroom is probably the room I spend the most time in. It’s also probably the reason I’m getting ready to redecorate this room. (I get tired of things quick!) My design tip is to decorate your room first, let it be your oasis!
This dresser is still one of my most pinned images on Pinterest. It was super simple and easy to do. You can read more about this project here.
After my room was done I started on my kids rooms. My daughter is 15 years old and this is what her room currently looks like.
My baby boy will be 1 this month and I’ve spent many long nights in this room over the last year. There are people who think a nursery is really just for the mom and I say heck yea to that and why not, I mean I almost never left this room for the first 3 months of his life!!
There isn’t really a theme in the room we just chose elements that both my husband and I loved, like the Star Wars prints for him and the black 1970’s refinished Ethan Allen dresser for me.
My husband has the main office located in our basement but I also needed a space to work at so I made one upstairs in our very small loft. My favorite piece is my blue campaigner bookshelves and my spray painted chair!
Something my husband and I are probably most proud of is our backyard. We’ve done all the work ourselves over the last few years and yet we still have so much to do it’s so much better than the gravel pit we started out with!
The last room is the kitchen and a teaser for what will be in store over at Laurie Jones Home and to think it all started with a piece of trash I transformed!
Thank you again Aimee for showing off my house!!! I had a great time!! Please feel free to stop by and say hello to me at Laurie Jones Homes!! I’d love it!! — Isn’t her home beautiful! I love her new custom home!
