New Curtains in Master

Ready to chat about house updates again!?!  Me, too!  In my rancher’s master bedroom, the windows were draped with basic white curtains.  I have been making some changes at my new house.

If you’re new, you can check out the before pics of our New House before we moved in and get caught up on all the updates here.   This is what the Master Bedroom looked like when we first visited.  The paint and texture were actually better in here than in a lot of areas of the house.  Since we’re obviously talking ‘new curtains’ today, you can see the gold satin curtains that the previous owner left behind for us.

As nice of a gesture as it is, I find it kind of sad because most of the time, the new owners have a completely different style.   Long ago I stumbled on the Hobby Lobby chevron curtains for such a great price when you use your coupon and knew I wanted them for my next house.  (My little Berkeley is so little here – I love my little furbaby).

Master Bedroom Update 3 @ItsOverflowing

The original owners hung the rod directly over the window, but I’ve learned from trial and error (and the advice of many design friends, especially Nate Berkus) that when the curtains hang higher the room seems taller.  Although the rods needed lifting, I am thankful that the original owners left them for us.  I’m a little grossed out by the idea of reusing drapes, aka dust traps, but I’m all about reusing the rod!  Thanks previous owners!

This pic isn’t great, but there’s a reason for my madness and I’ll share it real soon!  XO!

Curtains always look amazing when hung higher. What a difference. Such a great tip. When I go to someone’s home I always want to hang there curtains higher and there paintings a little lower.

  2. Love the chevron drapes and they do look really good hanging higher. I would love for you to link up to my Inspire Me Tuesday party – - -http://www.astrollthrulife.net/2014/01/198th-inspire-me-tuesday.html. Hugs, Marty

The room is looking good Aimee. Hanging the drapes higher does make the room seem larger. Can’t wait to see the final pictures. Love when Berkeley shows up, so adorable!

It’s a great space to start with and the curtains are perfect!

Love those curtains! I’ve been looking and looking for something similar with no luck for months now. This morning I rushed to Hobby Lobby to look for them, but ours doesn’t carry curtains. I did find them on their website and was wondering what color yours are. The website offers brown/creme and gray/white. It’s hard to tell from the tiny website pics about the colors, but I really like the color of yours.

How did I not see this earlier!?! Sorry Amy. I can’t believe yours doesn’t have these — near the fabric!?!? That’s so weird, every store in my area has them and they also have a fabulous variety of pillow covers, too! Bummer. Mine are brown/cream, although it looks charcoal gray/tan. Let me know if you need a close up picture. We just painted the room so I bet I’ll be showing more pics of the room very soon!!! :)

  6. Great looking curtains! I look forward to seeing the finished room! :) Life to the full! Melissa
