House Tour – Restoration Hardware Lighting

Ready for another Dreamy Dwelling Home Tour?  Excuse my sappiness for just a minute.  I went back to my hometown hairdresser yesterday and soaked in some much needed inspiration.  It feels like life has come full circle.  My sweet hairdresser has amazing style, her previous home was on the holiday tour of homes a few years back — did you see the pic of her salon I shared on instagram — love it!  For all of you “real” blondes out there, why is it so hard to get the right shade!?!  My brassiness is out the door!  Yay!  Feeling nostalgic, I showed up a little early for my appointment and drove through the streets of downtown McKinney.  It is a charming, bustling little town – it always does my soul good.  McKinney has a great blend of small urban city and lovely surburbs, too.  While driving I found some new homes being built to fit the era.  This home built in 2004 is urban living at it’s best, located steps from McKinney’s Historic District.  I had to see the rest of it!!!  Ready for today’s beautiful Craftman’s style house tour!?!

This home has beautiful hardwood floors throughout and the wall color was so fun for me to stumble on as I’m in the midst of decorating my home with similar gray walls.

The office is still very much a blank slate, but I love the floating X Desk and the shelves on either side of the window!

The slate fireplace is beautiful as is the gorgeous upgraded Restoration Hardware lighting and hardware throughout — I need so many new fixtures — loved seeing these to help in my brainstorming process.

Candles lining the mantel with plants on either end works for this time of year – it’s all about simplifying in January!

I absolutely LOVE this rug!

I still need to show you the plans I’ve drawn for my kitchen makeover!  My family room and kitchen will be very open concept when I have a wall removed – nothing major, right.  LOL.   Doesn’t this setup look so perfect for entertaining!!?!

I’ve been looking at lots of kitchens for inspiration – specifically trying to decide if I prefer the breakfast bar to be counter height or taller!?!  When I see this kitchen, I lean towards just a large island with space for bar stools, but not at a raised height.  Thoughts!?

I love a classic kitchen with white cabinets and black granite countertops!

Which is your favorite Restoration Hardware Light Fixture in this house!?!

Since this is a craftsman, I think I’d trim the windows all around and save up for shutters.  I love this Iron Orb Chandelier from Restoration Hardware.

Lavendar or Pink!?!  I went to IKEA in search of soft pink pillows for my front room and they were totally out.  I was in the mood for something pretty, but ALL of their products are picked over as they wait on the arrival of their Spring collection!

This was listed by Lauren Savariego — it already sold.  And here’s one more with pics too small, but so many great ideas!  Do you have a chalkboard wall in your house?!!?

McKinney, I will be back soon (about 8 weeks).  Can’t wait to show you more from my trips to McKinney — cute unique shops on the town square and fun finds at IKEA!

I love the iron orb chandy best, it fits perfect in that room. Orchid is going to be a top color this year. It has been so cold here I can’t wait for spring.

Love this house…we are just about done a complete DIY makeover on our house and are never afraid ro take down a wall! Almost ready to post the kitchen and I would suggest not having a raised breakfast bar…we have done both in previous renos and I am loving the island with all the same counter height. Stools under the overhang for eating area at counter. The tall raised part on this kitchen island is probably the part I like least about the kitchen…. Makes it a little choppy…. And I think I would always be banging an elbow on those awkward corners?? We have gone with Grey Owl by Benjamin Moore and I love it…. Have fun and can’t wait to see what you do!

being a short person I would vote for counter height :) I think it would be hard to use a higher one as an extra workspace

Hi Aimee! So fun to stop by and catch up on all that’s been happening here! This home is just so beautiful and I loved taking the tour. Hope you are having a great start to the new year! :-)

Hi Aimee, Thanks for the home tour. I love the orb light fixture too. Love the white kitchen with black counters too. However, I would have preferred the island all the same height. Just me. A beautiful home!

What a cute house! I’m not far from McKinney! McKinney is a cute historic area but I haven’t had the chance to tour as much of it as I would like too!

  7. Incredible house tour – I love the grey! I think there are a lot of incredible lights in there, but think my favourites have to be the ones above the kitchen island or the statement one over the dining room table.
