Choosing Health #WalkitOff

March 4, 2014 by Leave a Comment

Today is March 4th — Stud and I were married in McKinney, fourteen years ago! We exchanged vows during a sweet ceremony at a church near my parent’s home, followed by a beautiful reception in downtown McKinney, at Heard-Craig Hall — an elegant location with crystal chandeliers, columns and a huge dance floor. The whole day was a total blast, I can still remember how badly my cheeks hurt from smiling nonstop! That day was magical and three kids later I am more thankful than ever to be married to a man that’s number one hobby is his family! This time of year I love to look through our wedding album and remember back on that sweet day when it all started!

And to keep things totally real — March 4th is also the day each year that I’m reminded I’ve put on a few winter pounds and need to get ready for swimsuit season. This Spring — I am using Omron’s new Alvita Ultimate Pedometer HJ-325 to help me keep track of my goal to #WalkitOff. It’s easy for me to get busy with kid activities and forget to take time for my health. My plan is to be intentional and #WalkitOff — 1. walk instead of drive the kids to and from school for drop off and pick up, 2. take little Berkeley on more brisk walks, 3. park further out at the grocery store and 4. when a chatty friend calls my cell, throw on my tennis shoes and use that time for a little extra workout — walk around the neighborhood! My goal is 10,000 steps each day, aka 5 miles! Exercise is TOTALLY rewarding, it helps pump up my endorphins, release my tension, and improve my mood! I also love that I’m showing my kids the importance of good health — they are so intrigued by my new pedometer, they’ve been checking often to see how many steps I’m taking!

So far I’m loving my Omron Pedometer — 1. it stores seven days of information so I can track my progress over time and it automatically resets at midnight, 2. it comes with a battery (the battery is easy to install and replace), clock, strap, clip and holder , 3. it has special technology that allows me to clip it to my pocket or purse and still get an accurate step count, and 4. it measures more than just steps — it keeps track of miles and kcal, too! Here’s to a healthy me this summer — got to keep looking cute for my Stud!!! Are you going to join me and #WalkitOff with an Omron Pedometer, too!?!
