My Backyard Oasis

We have lived in our new-to-us traditional home for eight months now!!!  I love it all so much (such a blessing), but after living in a busy neighborhood in a major city, I think my favorite feature is this beautiful backyard!  I’m amazed by how many beautiful birds live back here and besides their sweet chirping while the kids are at school, there’s a whole lot of silence — a sweet gift of tranquility while life is filled with more chaos right now than I’d prefer!  I’m working on a fun campaign that I’ll fill you in on soon (I’ve been taking tons of pics for it), but for now enjoy these pics from when the previous owner lived here and made it what it is today!

The pool has already been filled to the brim with kids on a couple of occasions this season!?!  Yes, this is Texas and we have unseasonably warm days during the Spring, but not that warm!!!  Crazy kids!!!

When we made our offer, we asked for several things to stay with the house and the previous owners were more than gracious!  I’ve shown you our John Deere riding lawn mower already (Stud loves it and the boys are begging me to drive it on their own, but with a pool in the backyard, I’m not ready for that — they get stuck with the push mower in the front).  We also asked for the backyard flat screen and we love it for movie nights and watching many sporting events — Rangers, Cowboys, Texas Tech…etc.!  It’s totally a luxury item!!!

I took pictures of the back porch setup so I would understand the placement of the screws in the brick when the previous owner moved out.  Her ceiling tiles are real cute, right!!!

I also took a picture of her planters because I’m always curious to see what thrived with varying degrees of sunlight and lots of heat!!!  This looks like a pot you’d find at my very favorite flower garden, The Flower Ranch!

This sweet bench is so cozy and cute — LOVE!

This house was so well taken care of — love this fence and the Cedar Gable Arbors with lights strung were totally beyond the upkeep of an average homeowner!

I’m on the hunt for similar loungers — I know I’ll get a ton of use out of them this summer!

And like I said, we kept asking for extras when purchasing the house.  We swore we’d never buy a trampoline after our little girl then 3 (this was 8 years ago) was double bounced and ended up in a full leg cast for 8 weeks!  I guess officially we didn’t buy it — it was left by the homeowners, too!  Having an 11, 8, and 7 year old, I can’t imagine life without it!  They are constantly jumping from October through March — then it’s time to hit the pool.

We adore these palm trees — feels like we’re at a resort even at home!  And I’m so thankful that even after way too many freezes this winter, all three made it through the winter!!!  Phew!!!

To the left of this picture above is a huge strip of grass that the boys play baseball on every. single. day.  This backyard totally fits us and I can’t wait to show you the little touches of color and fun I’ve been adding!  What have you been up to lately — sprucing up inside or outside of your home!?!?

Thanks Denise!!! I think that pool is going to get some major use this summer (we moved August of last year so I’m looking forward to a FULL summer of pool play). XO, Aimee

  2. Oh your yard is a dream, I love it.

  3. we spent the last two days cleaning up all the debris from the winter…underneath we found some of the plants beginning to sprout! I love spring – especially after the hard winter we had here in Ontario!

Your yard is lovely…makes me wish we had a pool!

I’m like a child at Christmas watching the plants sprout!! This was one wild winter for us, but we hold nothing in record to your Ontario winter!!! Come on over for a swim party Cheryl!!! ;) XO, Aimee

  4. Simply gorgeous! It looks like the perfect party place, too!

  5. What a gorgeous backyard! I didn’t realize you were in Texas too. We’re enjoying this spring weather before the real heat sets in. :) I just bought my hubby a John Deere for our anniversary and he loves it! You’ll get many, many years of enjoyment out of yours. My roses and bottle brush trees are just starting to bloom. Love this time of year! You have a beautiful backyard!

Looks like paradise! Especially for a family. Any idea what brand that trampoline is?!? I’m on the market for one! Thanks!

  7. Beautiful backyard! What a wonderful place to play, relax, BBQ, have breakfast, and go for a swim. I think it is more common NOT to have a pool in Florida. lol Enjoy your private retreat. :D

Beautiful! I just looked at your link for the flower place, that’s so close to me I’m going to have to go! (I’m in TC, very close to Southlake/Keller) What are their prices like? I love Mike’s Landscape on 114 but when not having sales it’s pricey.

  10. this is incredible! i would totally move in!
