DIY Summer Fabric Banner – No Sew!

May 27, 2014 by 5 Comments

One of the easiest ways to bring warmth into a room is a fun fabric banner with the colors you’re currently loving!  When I hosted a mommy daughter tea party, I showed you how I made a scrap garland.  I still love it, but my new favorite is the fabric banner I made the other day.  I’m loving the colors and style — so versatile!  If you have tons of fabrics saved up grab some from your stash, but if you’re like me, a bit of a minimalist, browse the selection of fabric scrap collections at your local craft store.

Each of these fabric pieces are 9″x 21″ so I cut the length in half and had 20 pieces — I knew that I would use this banner for outdoor parties, too so I needed it long (10 may be plenty for your space).  I folded each 9″ x 11″ piece of fabric in half and then cut off the sides, being careful to leave the top, the folded portion of the triangle intact so both sides of the banner would have the right side of the fabric exposed when draped over the ribbon.  I used Heat’n Bond Ultra Hold Iron-On Adhesive to attach the fold to the ribbon and the wrong sides of the fabric to each other.  The banner started in the family room, but is job sharing with the back patio –

I love seeing the fabric dance in the wind!  I’ll show you a little more backyard dining real soon — if you make a fun fabric banner be sure to add it to my FB Page so I can enjoy it, too!
