Recovering My Piano Bench

I covered my piano bench with white fabric years ago and it’s been collecting little fingerprints ever since!  The other day I finally decided it was time for Recovering My Piano Bench!  Little B and I found five fun options for fabric for my piano bench and you helped me decide on the winning fabric!!!  This week my kids are at Gigi & Pa Camp so project number one has been completed!  After reading all of your comments on the blog and pinterest — I narrowed it down to the top two fabrics — seen below!

I slid a screwdriver under the old staples and tapped with my mallet to loosen them.

Then used my pliers to grip and twist the staples out completely.

Okay, ready for my new fabric choice!?!  Greek Key in a smoky gray fabric!  I love this classic style and the way the colors compliment the room is perfect!

After removing the seat from the bench, I placed the fabric face down on my coffee table and centered the seat on the fabric.  Using my staple gun, I tucked the cut side of the fabric and attached it to the first side of the bench.  On the shorter sides, I cut off a portion of the fabric to allow for a smoother fold along the edge of the bench.

After all four sides were covered and secured with staples, I used my finger to find the exact location of the screw holes to reattach the seat to the bench and marked these with a marker.

A huge change in just about fifteen minutes!!!

With a bit of dusting and some new fabric, this piano bench is totally styling!Gray-Greek-Key-Fabric-@ItsOverflowing 2

And I love how well the fabric coordinates with my makeshift coffee table, too!!!

  1. This turned out so pretty! I really like the fabric you chose. This has me thinking that I may to add this to my list of things to do! The piano bench that came with our 1800’s family heirloom piano was way too unstable for my guys, so I picked up a more traditional bench at a second hand furniture store. It is not currently covered in fabric, but I think I may just need to be. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. Great pattern!

  3. Looks good

  4. That looks great Aimee…love the fabric!

  5. Thanks, Aimee! I have a small bench I want to recover too and you did a fabulous job! Love the updated fabric! So chic… the mix of modern fabric and traditional piano looks wonderful together!
