Garage Organization and ItsOverflowing Updates

Good Morning Friends!  I hope you all had an awesome week!  It’s been bonkers for me this week… for those of you that follow on InstagramFacebook and Twitter, you know that I’m in the middle of a kitchen remodel!  Making my dream kitchen a reality is a total treat, but our contractor has seriously worn me out and stolen my joy!  I’m quickly realizing there’s a reason Stud and I are usually DIYers.  This guy has walked off the job three times and each time comes back with a sob story and we’ve let him continue on.  (I’m married to the sweetest guy EVER).  This last time he wigged out, I had enough and told him if he says he’s done this time, he is really done.  I’m going to share more this week, but just to give you a glimmer of the craziness, I had to call the police yesterday — I’m still shaking!!!

Contractors Wear Me Out @ItsOverfloiwng

And with that jaw dropper, I’m putting it out there that Stud and I plan on staying true to DIY from now on.  We’ve found a community that works for us on HomeTalk.  It’s basically a Pinterest site for all things home and garden… Right up our alley!  I just put a ‘Garage Organization Ideas’ board together and you can see it and follow me by clicking the link below.  You can also share your own projects as well as ask questions to the HomeTalk community!  Be sure to be following ItsOverflowing.com on HomeTalk!

Our Power Tool Organization was one of the first projects we added to HomeTalk.

We’ll be adding many more projects soon, but this weekend, Stud and I are going to get a plan together so we can try and wrap up this kitchen remodel!  You can keep up with our adventures on InstagramFacebook and Twitter!  Have a great weekend!  XO, Aimee

Sorry Aimee for all your troubles. Contractors can be sketchy and it’s best you ended it early hopefully in the process. The work would have turned out sub-par at best. Glad you are going to be on Hometalk, I love that site It’s very informative.

  2. Crazy town!!! I hope you get the kitchen wrapped up soon and I am so sorry you are having a lot of trouble! And, the police?! I would have been shaking, too! Can’t wait to hear about this!! Happy Saturday!

Had to call the police because of a wigged out contractor?!?! This I can’t even begin to imagine. Good riddance.

  4. Oh boy can I relate to your kitchen drama! We just finished our kitchen remodel and it was the biggest hassle ever! I’m saving the dramatic details for a blog post down the road when some issues get resolved (hopefully) but I’m with you…there’s a reason we’re DIYers! So much less hassle than relying on someone else and their poor work ethic. If we hadn’t needed some cabinet work done that was totally out of our DIY expertise, we would have handled it on our own for sure. Good luck to you. I know it will all turn out fabulous! :)

Julie, your kitchen did turn out FABULOUS!!! Sorry for all your drama, too!!! Ugh! If only we were trained in cabinet making and stone fabricating!!! XO, Aimee

  5. Bless your heart! I am so sorry that your contractor turned out to be a crazy person. We subcontracted out the construction of our entire house and it was very stressful at times. I will tell you that it will be worth it in the end!

  6. Oh my! I would be freaking out, and changing all my locks. Praying things go smoother from here on out.

  7. Wow! I am so sorry to hear about what you are going through. I can totally relate. Luckily, I have not had to call the police, but one guy took forever on a job and did craptastic work. Even his boss later admitted that the work was awful. Anyway, that guy kind of gave me the creeps. He soon knew it when I gave him my death stare. Weirdos in my house – not gonna happen. You are in mama bear territory. Just sayin’. ;)

I truly hope you get it all figured out and find competent help. Professionals wonder why we would rather DIY. Too many freakos out there. No thanks! Ask your next contractor if background checks have been performed on their staff and let me know about the police. They need to know you mean business.

Going to head on over to check out your garage organization board. :)
