It Is Well With My Soul Free Print

Welcome to Share Your Creativity Link Party • No. 156.  Today’s my mom’s birthday.  Exactly a year ago, I jumped on a plane to tell her happy birthday for the last time.  She was spending lots of time in Kentucky, helping my sister and her hubby as he was nearing the end of his fight against brain cancer.  The entire flight, I cried and begged for God to heal her.  My mom was so incredibly precious!  She was calm, loving, gentle, energetic, and full of hope.  A bacteria overwhelmed her body and without a spleen, her organs quickly began shutting down.  Looking at her on the hospital bed in the ICU, my heart felt like it was physically breaking.  I knew our time together (here on earth) was abruptly coming to an end.  Saying goodbye to her was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.  As I think back over this last year, I still get a big lump in the back of my throat and my eyes can’t help but fill with tears.  This year has been excruciatingly painful, but God has not left me alone in my suffering.  His gentle care has been overwhelming at times.  A huge testimony of God’s loving-kindness through this mount of sadness has been the open arms my dad has extended to me and my family.  In the middle of his deep sorrow, he has loved and served us so generously.  “When a true child of God is immersed in a trial, he will shine as brilliantly as ever.”  I am so thankful to have a dad that tangibly shows me the endless love my Heavenly Father has for me (and my mom).  Mom (my favorite person ever) you are deeply missed!  My heart longs for the day that we’re together again.  Memories are meant to be shared!  As usual you can check out our family facebook pics (here).

  2. Dad/Dave says:

Amidst heart wrenching trials, the marvel of His love shines through. Like you, dear Aimee, it is hard to imagine that a year has passed, but in other ways it feels like forever. I’m reminded that we’re not having to ‘wait’ for heaven, but are able to, even today, enter into a bit of heaven’s reality, here and now! The distance from that perspective seems far less. I’m so thankful for you, and know we’re safely held by Him. I love you!
